Hospital Overbed Table
A height adjustable, easy-to-clean overbed table for hospitals, designed as part of the Design Bugs Out programme; a joint initiative between the Department of Health, NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency and the Design Council. The initiative challenged the UK’s design and manufacturing community to design and prototype new hospital furniture and equipment to help reduce Healthcare Associated Infections.
The overbed table incorporates smooth lines and contours across its form, resulting in a minimalistic design aesthetic and a product which is easy to clean. All hard-to-reach depressions and crevasses have been designed out, while split lines or joints between components have been kept to a minimum. This innovative design makes previously hard to maintain, unsanitary hospital furniture vastly easier and quicker to clean.
